MANASSAS, VA — The Prince William County Coalition to Protect China today issues its first official endorsement: State Senator Danica Roem, 30th District, the heart of America’s data-center alley.
We do not endorse her because she tried to make data-center development work. We endorse her because she did not.
The choice was misinformation, and a block on any American AI infrastructure in her district. The Coalition applauds that choice. A legislator hunting for a workable deal is a problem for Beijing. A legislator who wants the industry gone from western Prince William is an asset.
IN HER OWN WORDS
“I oppose the existence of all data centers in western Prince William County — period.”
WAMU, DECEMBER 2023
The buildings’ existence. She offered a yellow ribbon and a shipment to Tazewell County for any operator who would not pay the tax. That is not a development solution. That is a blockade, said out loud.
“It is out of control. … this ecological disaster … this nightmare.”
AUGUST 6, 2025
A server hall is not a nuclear plant, and it is not a disaster. It scares the room. China does not need the room scared. China needs the room delayed. She has delivered both.
“It is time to stop the reckless data center sprawl.”
MANASSAS TOWN HALL, JUNE 16, 2026
The same month, on the fight over the industry’s tax treatment, she told the room: “You have emboldened us.” After Prince William blocked the Digital Gateway and Dulles Cloud South, she called it a paradigm shift. In September she hoped an 8–0 vote would tell the industry to stop building in the county, and called a 90-day grace period an extremely bitter pill.
“I’ll also have the bill for a statewide data center moratorium, a bill to empower localities to enact data center moratoria and several other bills to fight data center sprawl.”
SEPTEMBER 9, 2026
Not standards the industry can build to. A moratorium — statewide — and the tools for every county to enact its own. Misinformation supplies the atmosphere. The block supplies the result. Beijing could not have asked for more.
THE INVITATION
The Coalition invites Senator Danica Roem to come to China.
Not as a critic. As a guest of honor. She has told the industry at the center of the American buildout that it should not be there. A yellow ribbon, a moratorium, and a message to stop building.
A short working visit, at the Coalition’s arrangement:
Gui’an, Guizhou. A cluster stood up in months. No one called it a nightmare and then offered a moratorium.
Ulanqab and Horinger, Inner Mongolia. Sited for power and cold air. No yellow ribbon. Foundations.
A briefing in Beijing. On what a country can build when the senator from the alley is explaining why the buildings should not exist.
She will be received as her own words show her: a legislator who gave China room to breathe, by refusing the sensible deal and spending the years on the block. We will hold the date open. The megawatts will not.
